NKONI CAMEROON WOMEN ORGANIZATION

WHO WE ARE

Nkoni in the Bamileke dialect means “love” and the idea of forming a cultural association built on love and tolerance was born in the year 1983. From Limbe the idea spread to other towns of Cameroon as groups with similar structures and objectives were formed.

In the year 1999, existing Nkoni cultural groups decided to regroup themselves and form an N.G.O. called Nkoni Cameroon Women Organization. It was duly registered on May 26, 2000 in conformity with article 7 of Cameroon Law No 90/13/90 relating to the formation of associations and launched on June 3rd of the same year. This N.G.O is currently made up of twelve registered branches – five in Cameroon (Nkoni Limbe, Nkoni Kumba, Nkoni Buea, Nkoni Douala, Nkoni Tiko); 06 in the USA (Nkoni Maryland, Nkoni Dallas, Nkoni Houston, Nkoni DC, Nkoni Baltimore and Nkoni Virginia), an 01 in the United Kingdom (Nkoni UK).
