Nkoni Cameroon Women’s Annual Meeting Shines in Limbe
The 2024 Annual Nkoni Women’s General Assembly unfolded this past weekend in Limbe, Cameroon. Under the theme “NKONI moving forward, embracing our diaspora, and improving our future”, the event drew countless Nkoni members from branches across Cameroon, Europe, and the United States. Among the attendees were numerous VIPs from various locations, converging for the elaborate two-day affair hosted at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Limbe.
The first day comprised internal branch meetings, with members physically present while others joined remotely via Zoom and Facebook. Each branch showcased their activities, culminating in elections to steer the organization’s future.
Saturday commenced with a march, followed by photo sessions, prayers, and light refreshments, accompanied by the rendition of the National and Nkoni anthems. President General Mrs. Angela Asobo delivered a stirring address, affirming Nkoni’s enduring presence and the importance of nurturing international sisterhood to pave the way for future generations. Her words were met with resounding applause, followed by a powerful speech from guest speaker Professor Theresa Tchombe, evoking profound emotions among the audience.
The day continued with the ceremonial cutting of a cake and a vibrant traditional celebration honoring the newly bestowed Nkam Menzuis title upon deserving women. Additionally, the organization extended recognition to the children of Mama Ngu, one of NKONI’s esteemed members, and presented gift certificates to veteran Nkam Menzuis as the evening drew to a close.
The event radiated with music, joy, and a palpable spirit of unity, underscoring NKONI Cameroon Women Organization’s commitment to empowerment and cohesion. As the organization continues to expand with new branches emerging in cities across Cameroon and globally, it reaffirms its status as a beacon of women’s empowerment and unity.
